Stepping Up for Soccer Fun

At Friends of the Children - Colorado, our commitment to the youth in our program is only strengthened when obstacles arise.

We encourage youth to engage with extracurriculars like sports to strengthen teamwork, boost confidence, and support physical fitness. In partnership with the Colorado Springs YMCA, our Friends got several of our youth signed up for a local soccer team. However, they ran into an unexpected problem: the team didn't have a coach. Without hesitation, our Executive Director, Heather Steinman, stepped in to lead the team.

That's the kind of all-in dedication that defines our work. We do whatever it takes to make sure every child has a place to belong and a consistent, caring adult by their side, no matter what. A special thank you to our Chief Program Officer Jess Lyons for the behind-the-scenes work that made it all possible, and to Heather for leading by example when it counted most.

Now, our youth are scoring goals and building skills that will serve them on and off the field!

Support Friends – Colorado at Touch-A-Truck on May 16!

Join us on May 16 for tons of truck-filled fun! We are proud to be this year's Community Impact Partner for the Touch-A-Truck event at Norris Penrose Event Center. 100% of donations made at the event will support our work to empower generational change for youth and families in Colorado through 12+ years of professional mentorship.

At the event, kids can sit in, play on, and flash the lights of their favorite vehicles. First responder, military, sanitation, construction and community vehicles from all corners of Colorado Springs will be available for kids to explore. There will even be helicopters (weather permitting)!

The event runs from 9:30 AM to 2 PM with timed entry to ease parking congestion and wait times to explore vehicles. Get your FREE tickets today! We hope to see you there.

Thank You to Our Funders

Friends of the Children – Colorado is deeply grateful for the generous support of the Colorado Springs Health Foundation, Caring for Denver, the Anschutz Foundation, and the Comis Foundation.

Their investments make it possible for us to show up—year after year, for 12+ years— for young people and their families facing the biggest obstacles. Because of partners like these, our youth have a paid, professional mentor in their corner who is committed to them, no matter what. Thank you for your support!
